How to setup wireless router with Digitel Internet Connection
Here’s how to setup a wireless router or an access point with your Digitel internet connection. Although i mention Digitel specifically, it doesn’t mean that this guide will only work on Digitel internet connection. This guide will also work on other internet providers as long as the CPE (client premise equipment) they have provided is setup to provide IP address to your local network, in short, it acts as a DHCP server. I used TP-Link TL-WR541G for this guide but other wireless router will work as well.
Note: This guide will not going to cover the wireless security setup.

So here’s what will happen. We are going to cascade only your wireless router, meaning we will only use the LAN ports to connect your ADSL modem router to the wireless router. To achieve this, follow the guide below.
First, let’s configure your TP-Link TL-WR541G wireless router, login to your wireless router’s setup page which is http://192.168.1.1 by default and use admin for both username and password when prompted.
Once logged in, click on DHCP on the left side menu, under the DHCP server, click disable and click Save. The reason why we disabled the wireless router’s DHCP server is that we will be using the ProLink ADSL modem/router’s DHCP server which is active already.

Now, on the left menu, click on Network->LAN and change the IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 and click Save. This is to avoid an IP address conflict since the Prolink ADSL mode/router used the same ip address as the TL-WR541G (just like the Linksys WRT54GC wireless router).

Turn off/on your TL-WR541G wireless router to have reload it with the changes we made.
Now that the TL-WR541G wireless router is configured, it’s time to connect it to the ProLink 9200AR Modem/Router. Plug the network cable from your ADSL modem/router to the LAN port 1 of your TP-Link TL-WR541G wireless router. Get another cable and plug it to the LAN port 2 of your TP-Link TL-WR541G wireless router to your desktop or laptop’s LAN port.
That’s all about it,you can now connect to your wireless router (setup as AP) to browse the internet.

Hi,
I have a radio internet provider with a Canopy antenna having it’s own DHCP server. After searching and trying several solutions, THIS was the only one which worked. And the amazing thing is that it is so simple!
Thanks a lot and greetings from Brazil!

Hi! nice thread it really helped me a lot. i have one question, what if my Prolink ADSL mode/router at static ip? should i make the same step? Thank you! and God Bless..
Batman @ 2:19 am:
Hi Mark,
No, however, you can still cascade your adsl modem/router with the wireless router (or i suggest you get wireless access point like WAP54G) but you have to manually assign ip address for each network client/computer.

I follow the instructions correctly but it didn’t work and to make things worse it ruin my wireless router,it’s not working anymore. So anyone reading this guide don’t listen to it.

@Jay
What exactly is your network setup? did you cascade your wireless router to the prolink adsl modem/router (cable from prolink should be connected to one of the LAN ports of the wireless router, not to the internet port or else you won’t be able to get an ip address from the prolink adsl modem/router)?

Hi. What if my ISP said Dynamic IP was assigned to me however when I tried autodetect in web based mngt site, it resulted to Static IP? also, the RJ45 connected to the modem needs to be connected to the LAN port and not to the internet port of the router? Thanks

I have a Dlink Wireless router N 150 Dir600 router.I already configure my router and when ever im setting up to configure my router on its website. Im having a difficult time in Configuring the Lan setup and internet connection is it because im using a static ip address? when ever i select the Internet connection using static ip address i lost my connection. i also have a computer that serve as a server and hub which connects other pc. Is there something wrong in my cable setup. i connect my ADSL/modem cable to internet port of the router then Lan Cable to lan port1 of the router, then router to hub. is it correct. thnx

Hi.. How can i bridged or configure TP LINK WR542G to PRO LINK Hurricane 5201.. MOre.. Power Thanks
Wiser Buddy @ 4:36 am:
Hi mark.
Thanks for this, but I think no need to include this statement as we’re now dealing with wireless network. “Get another cable and plug it to the LAN port 2 of your TP-Link TL-WR541G wireless router to your desktop or laptop’s LAN port.”
We can now just turn on the WiFi switch of our WiFi enabled device(laptop, tablet,cp, etc.) and search for the SSID(Wifi Name of that TP Link) and connect. Then Browse the internet.

Hi,
I am using Linksys WRT120N, would this process work?..I will be trying it later and I hope this procedure works…huhuhu I am not a techie person…I’ll be back once I am done with it.
Tomu Karigu @ 7:26 am:
Hi,
I have followed the step by step procedure but it didn’t work for my linksys WRT120N…it’s frustrating…because digitel won’t help me with my problem because they have their own router that is for lease…I should have known that instead of buying a router that I wouldn’t even able to use because it doesn’t work…I am not a techie person…and I hate the fact that Digitel is making it hard for me to get help for this thing to work..haaaai…
