SmartWiFi Morning Sickness

2:13 AM:

While setting up the TeleEye III Video Recording Transmitter (VRT), suddenly my internet connection was cut-off, When i tried to access my favorite search engine Google, my browser’s status bar displayed only “Looking up http://www.google.com…..”, then the browser returned a connection timed-out error,Obviously it was a DNS server problem.

I tried specifying my DNS servers using Verizon’s DNS server (4.2.2.2), unfortunately i was not able to go through as i have used to, calling Smart Communications WiFi support team proves no help too, so i started checking on the servers i managed with DNS service running on them, using the IP Address to connect to one of the servers.

I was able to login via SSH and found out that name resolving there is possible, so i end up using its DNS service, Voila, as expected i am connected back to the web with a noticeable increase in browsing and file downloads, because i am the only one using and able to get through to the internet (poor none/less techie people).
