I use this drivers at new vostro a840 i install sound with microsoft high definition software first and later with sound and modem driver downloaded here and found very good, i couldn’t install wireless (give me an error this driver) and card reader (this software install but not found) i need install only two devices…

i don’t know if other drivers found with this devices…

Pls Install Windows Vista for sound, leave windows XP.
Windows Vista DEtects as a High Definition Audio as Sound Driver.

I done installing win XP on Dell Vostro A840. It was hard to install all drivers bat now it is ok. To help installing audio drivers, I post here. So:
HyLyX said (THANKS FOR HELP) to install FIRST sp32646.exe (you can find it on google verry simple). In my situation, didn`t work with sp34386.exe but if you go to device manager(right click on my computer icon - manage) you will see PCI device with exclamatin. Right click on it and update driver. After that you can install the audio driver from up link.

thanks to HyLyX’ solution i had my problem solved. So guys its no need having vista installed just download the sp32646.exe from 4shared and install making sure you have deleted any sound driver,then now you install the R 192894 for Vostro,OK. Good luck guys.its gonna work.

I install sound and modem on DELL Vostro A840/A860 using sound and modem drivers from this site.

For Windows XP SP2,
i first instal “MS HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO”, Microsoft file kb888111xpsp2.exe!!! You can find it and get! I get file from Realtec Audio drivers, folder MSHDQFE!!!

After install the file kb888111xpsp2.exe - restart!!!
Boot Windows and open Device Menager!!!
In chapter “System devices” find device with exlamation /PCI Device, PCI Bus or somting else/ DELETE this device and restart again!!!

On next boot, device will instals correctly, wihout exclamation!!!

Now you can instal audio and modem drivers from here and all be OK!!!

The file kb888111xpsp2.exe is popular in the net, use Google too…

“wizard cant fails to search the required software from net”

I have one remaining “yellow question mark” in my device manager list and I think this is the Wireless LAN.

I downloaded the remaining driver R193564 and then this error message,

thanks to you, for your recommendations caused to solved the problems in my Vostro A840 laptop.in fact after changing the operation system to Vista the Audio device was recognized automaticly,and then after installing the R192894 and R189736 the modem was recognized and became active so that I could connect to the internet.However thanks so for your help and usefull recommendations.

I have the same problem as Jammer. After installing Vista, most of the features in my Vostro A840 started working except for the wireless hardware if alone there is any. It seems there isn’t. When I used a TP link device to hook up to the internet, it worked fine. However, I wonder why the laptop carries a wireless light indicating that it can work wirelessly when it doesn’t. Please help.

Now I know the problem. Bluetooth driver is crashed to WIFI driver. When I uninstall wifi driver, I can use bluetooth (pairing to phonecell).

What you guys need in order for this driver to work properly is Windows Xp Service Pack 3, either by a clean install or by upgrading sp2 to sp3 via the MS installer or update manager. I have this laptop and had drivers problems until I got XP SP3, then enjoy.

as my OS. I cannot adjust the brightness and the contrast of my laptop because the window 7 does not allow the driver of my video card to be install. The driver that I am using right now is the driver provided by the window 7.

When I have buy this lape I thought that it is good but when I am installing the sound & wilan drivers I am having a problem with that &also it wasted my whole day.
So anybody please help me…………

Finally I could do Wireless working!
I tried hard downloading DELL drivers and always the same error, the driver couldn’t be recognized. Thanks Mustaq Khan. Great link.

I, too, had problems with the audio.
First I had to install the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (MUAA) software, then the driver found here. Seems to be working perfectly! Listening to music right now:D

(I did not have any problems with stuff like wireless LAN, maybe ’cause I’m using SP3)
